The maximum contribution for the General Election is $1,300.00 per person or entity/business, and $2,600 per couple. Contributions made during the Primary Election do not count toward the maximum contribution limits for the General Election.

This is not intended as a solicitation of any city employee or commissioner. Lobbyists and lobbying firms registered to lobby the City of Los Angeles may not contribute. If you are bidding on a contract or seeking an amendment of an existing contract of $100,000 or more with the City of Los Angeles or any of its proprietary departments that requires the approval of an elected official you, your principals, your subcontractors and your subcontractors' principals may not contribute or fundraise. Please note that a personal contribution will be aggregated with a contribution from a sole proprietorship you own, from an entity if you control the entity’s contribution activities, from a general or limited partnership where you are a general partner and you own an investment of 50% or more or in which the general partner holds a majority of voting rights, or from any business entity where you own an investment of more than 50% or hold a majority of the voting rights. Contributions from two entities of any type may also be aggregated under certain circumstances. Married couples can contribute up to $2600 by either sending individually signed checks or by both signing one check from a joint checking account with both names in the account title. Contributions must be from the donor’s own funds and may not be reimbursed by any other person. Contributors must be at least 18 years of age. Contributions from foreign nationals are prohibited. Contributors not complying with these limits are subject to fines and/or termination of your contract by the City Ethics Commission.
